We are excited to invite you to the next edition of HRRN (New) Members’ Day—a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and discover possibilities to collaborate and contribute to societal impact in the field of human rights!

 

For this edition, we invite you to participate in a workshop on Human Rights-Based Approaches (HRBA) to Higher Education, led by Prof. Felisa Tibbitts, UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Higher Education. Through this workshop, we want to deepen our understanding on how universities can better integrate human rights principles into teaching, research, and university culture.

10:30 – 12:30       Workshop on the Human Rights-Based Approach to Higher Education – led by Prof. Felisa Tibbitts

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

 

The Human Rights-Based Approach to Higher Education: Imperatives, Challenges and Opportunities

This interactive session will involve a presentation of the human rights-based approach (HRBA) and its theoretical and practical applications within higher education. The presentation will include an opportunity for participants to reflect on the status of HRBA within their university’s curricular programming, classroom pedagogy, local partnerships, and culture. The HRBA within higher education will be critically analyzed in the context of neoliberal influences and recent attacks on academic freedom and funding in many university settings.
