Human Rights Week 2020

From 7 to 11 December 2020, the HRRN organised the Human Rights Week to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10th 2020.

The Human Rights Week focused on the topic ‘colonial legacies and processes of decolonization’ with a program that reflected the interdisciplinary nature of the HRRN and its desire to collaborate closely with multiple societal actors.

Members of the consortium talked with Rachida Lamrabet, Guillaume Poix and David Van Reybrouck about their books.

Nyanchama Okemwa, director of ENPAD and decolonization expert, joined us for a conversation about decolonization and what it may mean at Ghent University.

And last but not least there was the launch of a new issue of the journal ‘Tijdschrift voor Mensenrechten’ dedicated to decolonization and human rights and a casting of the documentary ‘For Sama’ by Syrian citizen journalist Waad al-Kateab.
